This is the 2nd song I've done with George. Hope you like it

    HEARTBEAT

    (by C.Beaver, G.Williams, P.Dempsey)

    The lines are always crowded
    From Piccadilly to Waterloo
    Always pushing, shoving
Rushing to where they’re going to

    Strangers just passing by
Some you don’t want to know
    Others lost in thought
    Just going with the flow

    From mainstream to grime
    Hear the thumping
    Feel the pumping
    Always in perfect time
    Inbound, outbound
    Seeping up to the street
    It’s the Underground
    This great city’s heartbeat

    And the minstrels serenade
    While the captives dream
    And the outrageous
Is not always what it seems

    The clock is counting down
    they're looking at their toes
    or maybe staring forwards
    as the head wind blows

And today always turns into tomorrow
    Then they’ll be back again
    Because they are the rhythm
    They are the rhyme
They are the blood of the life of the line

Chris - yet again I had a ball working on this with you :)

    And loved the end result!

The P.Dempsey referred to in the credits is Paul, a brilliant lyricist I often work with. He wrote 80% of the lyrics for this. I did the other 20%, including a few edits. For both this song, and our previous one as a team ("Don't Be Afraid"), Paul turned around lyrics from the backing and a title (given by Chris) in about a day!

    George

Quite a piece here gentlemen. Killer playing, singing and production. This really belongs in the early 80's prog as it takes me back there - very impressive

Musically brilliant Chris! Also love the lyrics and the theme guys. Production is real class and George the extras you add on top of the lead vocal line with the harmonies just takes it to that pro level. Top song!:awesome:

Now that I got a chance to listen to this on a decent audio system, and not my computer speakers...

    Chris and George -

    "This great city's heartbeat"

What a great hook, and the song beautifully builds up to it. Incredible creativity and production, Chris. George - your vocals and harmonies are masterful. I'm just kind of at loss for words right now! Just, WoW...

Fantastic job Guys! When I first started listening I thought you nailed the vibe of a 70's band called "The Ides of March".

I agree. The song ends with more of a bang.
